In the opening round of the Goa Premier Division League organised by the Goa Cricket Association, Geno Sports Club, Panjim Gymkhana, and Salgaocar Cricket Club dominated over their respective opponents on Day 2.
At Bandodkar Ground in Campal-Panaji, Geno Sports Club secured a 40-run first-innings lead after bowling out Chowgule Sports Club for 197 in reply to their 237. Madhur Yadav waged a lone battle with 56 runs for Chowgule. Geno's leg-spinner Manish Kakode starred with figures of 5 for 48, while Samarth Rane claimed 3 for 57. In their second innings, Geno reached 124 for 3, extending their overall lead to 164 runs. Manthan Khutkar top-scored with 74, while Kaushal Hattangadi remained unbeaten on 38.
At the NAPEX Ground in Sankhali, Panjim Gymkhana took a 25-run first-innings lead. After posting 259, they dismissed Margao Cricket Club for 234. Off-spinner Deep Kasvankar delivered a defining spell, picking up 6 wickets for 74 runs. Notably, none of the MCC batters managed a half-century, with Deepraj Gaonkar top-scoring with 37. By stumps on Day 2, Panjim Gymkhana were 82 for 2 in their second innings, stretching their lead to 107 runs. Ishan Gadekar remained unbeaten on 41, while skipper Suyash Prabhudessai scored 26.
At the GCA Ground in Cotarli-Sanguem, Salgaocar Cricket Club piled up a massive 513 in their first innings. In reply, Dempo Cricket Club were in deep trouble at 129 for 6, still trailing by 384 runs. Captain Snehal Kauthankar was fighting a lone battle with an unbeaten 54. Salgaocar skipper Yash Kasvankar led from the front with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs to dent Dempo's innings.
The third and final day of the matches will be played on Monday.
