This refers to the news report 'Rane calls CM 'magician' over 22,000 job slots' (TGE, May 23). The public disclosure by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane that 22,000 govt jobs are still waiting to be filled is a strong indictment of the Goa govt's inept and poor handling of unemployment in the state, which according to reports is the highest in the country. Secondly, if Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is a 'magician', as per Rane, then we would not have witnessed earlier job scams in the state where thousands of unemployed youth were duped by unscrupulous agents and middlemen who promised govt jobs after receiving bribe money amounting to lakhs of rupees. Sadly, these unemployed and distraught youth are still roaming the streets, waiting and hoping to get back their money and a govt job. What a sad situation indeed.
