The politics and psychology behind the govt job craze

Now, Goa is coming up with 22 thousand magic government jobs. What is that about? Is it employment fantasy? Government jobs in India, particularly within states like Goa, are experiencing a shift towards merit-based, transparent recruitment through Staff Selection Commissions, aimed at curbing backdoor entries. However, the public expects at least a golden opportunity of a government job in a family and not “gold” meaning no scheme amounts.
There are many developments in government jobs (2025-2026), but common people are deprived of these developments. The policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas has become a question mark, hasn’t it?
Goa is moving towards tech-driven, transparent hiring, recently issuing offer letters through the Goa Staff Selection Commission. However, low-profile jobs such as peons, sweepers, cleaners, drivers, helpers, wardens, plumbers, cooks, sailors, etc. could be distributed among common people as a government job per family as a source of income.
At present, competition is intense, with over 24,500 candidates, including doctors, lawyers and engineers, applying for 479 police constable vacancies in Goa (roughly 51 applicants per post). See the attraction towards government jobs; pay commissions will come with a steep rise. This is the magic. But what about the common people’s survival in the future?
Some sectors, such as ferry services in Goa, are moving towards contractual or PPP (Public-Private Partnership) models rather than permanent recruitment. This is just the feeling of government employees, and not reality.
Typical “golden” perks include packages ranging from Rs 50,000 to over Rs 1,80,000 per month. Pension plans and other retirement benefits still attract many applicants, but what about common people’s dreams?

Secondly, if Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is a 'magician', as per Rane, then we would not have witnessed earlier job scams…
