Rising crime is eroding Goa’s sense of safety

I wish to draw the attention of the authorities and the general public towards the alarming deterioration of law and order in Goa. Hardly a day passes without reports of serious crimes such as attempted murder, murder, assaults, thefts, drug-related offences, and violent clashes being registered across the state.
The increasing number of “half-murder” (attempt to murder) and murder cases has created fear and insecurity among common citizens. Residents who once considered Goa a peaceful and safe state are now deeply worried about their safety and the safety of their families. Tourists visiting Goa may also develop a negative impression, which can affect the state’s reputation and economy.
People expect strict action from the police and administration. There is an urgent need for stronger policing, regular patrolling, speedy investigations, and strict punishment for offenders. The government must also address issues such as drug abuse, unemployment, and illegal activities that often contribute to rising crime.
I request the concerned authorities to take immediate and effective measures to restore public confidence and maintain peace and harmony in the state.
