Drugs worth Rs 8.94 lakh seized in Pilerne

Saligao police arrested a youth from Calangute and seized drugs valued at Rs 8.94 lakh after conducting a raid in Pilerne in the wee hours of Saturday.

Saligao police had received intelligence that a drug transaction was scheduled to take place near the Panchayat Football Ground in Pilerne. 

Acting on this information, the police laid a trap. As soon as Brijesh Shirodkar (22) of Naikawada-Calangute arrived at the scene at about 2 am, the police took him into custody.

During a search, police seized 255.5 gms of drugs, valued at Rs 8,94,250, from his possession.

Police arrested the accused, and a Mapusa court remanded him to police custody for three days.

Further investigations are in progress under the supervision of Saligao Police Inspector Dinesh Gadekar.
