The question about the metabolism of sugar, especially sucrose and not so much fructose, which are relatively the former a more complex form and the latter a simpler form of sugar present mostly in fruits, is a matter of great concern, especially when, in these times, diabetes is common even among very young people. It is found that quite many people in their sixties consume almost an average of 750 ml of cold drinks containing sucrose every day, but still they do not suffer from diabetes. Normally, the pancreas should not so easily secrete insulin, especially in aged persons, but it is an irony that many do not suffer from diabetes. Sugar, sucrose being the one that provides a high degree of calories, in fact, if utilised, can maintain your body in better shape. A post-graduate in Biochemistry in the United Kingdom by research, who also runs a pathological laboratory in the city, has averred with reason that sugar at about 4 am in the early morning is depleted in the body and has to be replenished and, in fact, is of the opinion that early in the morning one should consume sucrose because it helps to a great degree in the functioning of the brain. It would be pertinent to know from experienced doctors if sugar can be had not to be detrimental but of value in various other ways than are commonly known.
