Town Boys, Sanguem booked their place in the finals of the 19th All Goa Rebello Pandal Football Tournament after defeating Setting Boys, Sao Jose de Areal 2-0 in the first semifinal played at St Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Monday.

Setting Boys had the first opportunity to take the lead when Bresal Viegas attempted a shot on goal, but Town Boys goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues punched the ball away for a corner. Soon after, Town Boys’ Anish made a solo run and unleashed a shot from inside the box, which was safely cleared by Setting Boys goalkeeper Mohammad. Despite these attempts, both teams went into halftime locked at 0-0.

After the break, Town Boys Sanguem changed their approach and began attacking with greater intensity. Their efforts paid off as Hanshlum Furtado opened the scoring, while Anish added another goal to seal a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Setting Boys tried to fight back but were unable to reduce the deficit until the final whistle.

The Man of the Match award was presented to Mohammad, goalkeeper of Setting Boys Areal, by tiatrist and Konkani stage actor Justhino Fernandes.
