It is shocking that the remaining piece of roadside field along the MDR 10 is now soon going to disappear while such illegal construction sprouts up. Where are we heading? We stand to oppose hill cutting and land filling. Enough is enough, but nothing seems to stop. When the influential start mixing religion and development, it is now called sustainable development. When a road is developed through the fields or a pump house is built, we stand to oppose it because the final outcome after a few years is a concrete structure. No wonder the Supreme Court judge has termed educated unemployed Gen Z activists as cockroaches. This is the level of those in the highest position of judicial power who are mocking the educated. In a way, it is true that the uneducated are elected to be the lawmakers of this country while the educated bureaucrats have to be yes-men, otherwise they are kicked out of their positions. There is no point in fighting to save Goa's fields, hills and rivers. Fighting these mafias of development is not easy and will not be in the near future either. St Anthony blesses them whether it is going to be a tradition left for the 15th of August, while the majority of the fields remain uncultivated for land conversion to become easier soon.
