As we are at the peak of summer, with temperatures soaring way above average and at times breaking records, it is hoped that our clergy will be more considerate by cutting short their sermons to around 8-10 minutes. This is as per the recommendation of Pope Francis, which is being observed in many churches and archdioceses. Secondly, there is also a tendency for some celebrants to sermonise at different stages of the Mass, besides using inclusive language in the day's liturgy. This goes against the prescribed norms and liturgy of the Mass and is proscribed by the Church. It is hoped that the Church in Goa will take the necessary action to stop this malpractice, which is not appreciated by the faithful and serves more as a penance for senior citizens and the sick.
