Govt needs to act to curb rising youth violence

It is shocking to read about a young man attacking a taxi driver and damaging his vehicle by climbing on it and verbally abusing him. This violent behaviour reflects either the impact of seasonal unrest or drug abuse, and clearly shows a lack of proper upbringing and manners. Incidents of rape, murder, robbery, and other crimes are increasing alarmingly in Goa. The law and order situation seems to be slipping out of control, with criminals, especially those backed by politicians, showing no fear of the police or legal consequences. Even when courts sentence such offenders, their political connections often ensure they receive special privileges in jail. Goa’s prisons have become notorious for the VIP treatment given to gangster supporters. The authorities must take strict action to restore peace and safety for the common people.
