Goa must remain a beacon of communal harmony

Peaceful, secular, and in communal harmony, we should always thrive and live as a harmonious community, as we have always been. The world is grappling with enough problems, and peace is the need of the hour.
Let us continue living as we always did and as we have grown up in the warmest company of a multitude of friends hailing from all creeds, communities, and castes. Let this legacy be carried on for generations to come.
We are all on a short voyage, the end of which we know not. So let us live and cherish every day we have, caring for and loving the entire human community at large. Goa and Goans have been known to be unique, welcoming, and living harmoniously, and we must not allow our distinctive fabric to be ruptured by senseless and pervasive minds.
Fanaticism and maliciousness should never be seeds to be sown, but harmony should be what it always was in our peace-loving Goa. We must always strive to be a peaceful, secular society and a beacon of communal harmony.
Temples, mosques, churches, and all other places of worship should be focal points to unite diverse communities instead of creating rifts amongst us, as we are all children of that one loving and tolerant God. There can be no room to divide us based on religion, creed, or caste.
May we always be guided by those words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Always aim at complete harmony of thought, word, and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”
