Before Goa had its own DD Goa channel on satellite television, DD Marathi from Maharashtra kindly allocated one Sunday per month to telecast old Konkani movies, giving Konkani lovers a chance to enjoy their films. Now that we have our own state channel, DD Goa should bring these treasured old Konkani movies from DD Maharashtra to telecast on our channel, catering to Konkani enthusiasts in Goa and worldwide. DD Goa must improve its reach by becoming free-to-air on private DTH platforms, making it accessible everywhere, just like other state channels. The Goa government and the broadcasting department should strive to provide quality programming: Konkani short films, dramas, songs, and informative content about Goa’s rich history, monuments, and culture. Additionally, please provide opportunities for new and talented youth artists to showcase their skills. The channel should broadcast at least 12 hours daily and prioritize employing Goans who understand our unique culture and heritage. This will not only enrich the channel but also promote and preserve Goa’s vibrant Konkani identity.
