Ashok Kharat of Nashik should not be addressed as “Captain,” a title that carries dignity undeserved by someone facing such serious allegations.

After his videos surfaced on social media, many questioned whether such incidents reflect the values of Maharashtra, long regarded as a progressive state.

The disturbing content has caused widespread embarrassment. Despite the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act, 2013, Kharat appears to have operated openly, highlighting a gap between law and enforcement.

The problem extends beyond one individual. When politicians and celebrities seek out such figures, they unintentionally legitimize them, increasing their influence and followers.

This creates a sense of immunity. Even educated and powerful individuals falling for such practices reflect a deeper societal issue. Kharat is accused of exploiting people emotionally and financially through occult claims.

If public figures were involved, accountability should not be selective”the government must act firmly against all responsible parties.
