Unsafe buildings still a threat to Margao citizens

With the monsoon season returning, several old and dangerous buildings in Margao continue to stand despite being declared unsafe. Citizens have repeatedly raised concerns, yet no strong action has been taken. The Mamlatdar of Salcete, the Margao Municipal Council and PWD have already inspected these structures. However, demolition and safety measures are still pending. Are the authorities waiting for a major accident to become tomorrow’s headline? It is shocking that some businessmen continue operating in these unsafe buildings, putting countless lives at risk. Joint inspections and reports are meaningless if departments fail to respond quickly for the safety of Madgavkars. The authorities must act immediately before innocent citizens are injured or killed.
