Stressing the importance of preventive healthcare and early diagnosis, Dr Vallabh Dhaimodkar said that timely detection of diseases can save lives.

He was speaking at a medical and blood donation camp organised by the Tiatr Academy of Goa in association with the Blood Bank of Goa Medical College, the National Association of Palliative Care for Ayush and Integrative Medicine (Goa Chapter), and Ravindra Bhavan Margao, which received an overwhelming response from members of Goa’s tiatr fraternity.

The camp was held on Monday at Ravindra Bhavan Margao and was specially organised for tiatr artistes and their family members. The initiative aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation while also offering free healthcare services to members of the fraternity.

The inaugural function was attended by Dr Sneha Bhagwat, Programme Coordinator; Manuel Barreto, Member Secretary of Ravindra Bhavan Margao; Anthony Barbosa, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa; Dr Carlos Fernandes, MS, TAG; senior tiatrist C D Silva and other dignitaries.

The camp was conducted at the Club Area of Ravindra Bhavan from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Dhaimodkar highlighted the growing health concerns arising out of modern lifestyles and stressed the need for preventive healthcare.

“The present lifestyle has changed the lives of people in many ways and hence it is necessary to give serious thought to healthcare. Instead of suffering from diseases, preventive measures at the initial stage are important,” he said.

Dr Sneha Bhagwat spoke about the importance of timely medical attention and the various healthcare facilities available to the public. She also praised the Tiatr Academy of Goa for organising what she described as the first-ever medical camp dedicated to tiatr artistes and their families.

Manuel Barreto appreciated the efforts of the organisers and lauded the initiative taken by Anthony Barbosa in addressing the health concerns of tiatr artistes.

Anthony Barbosa, in his address, explained the purpose behind organising the camp and reiterated the academy’s commitment towards the welfare of the tiatr fraternity. He also proposed the vote of thanks. The function was compered by Arnaldo Costa.
