Pipeline rupture at Rawanfond site leads to wastage of water Water is seen gushing out from the damaged water pipeline at the Rawanfond bridge.

MARGAO
Thousands of litres of potable water were wasted on Monday afternoon after a sub-distribution pipeline was accidentally damaged at the Rawanfond bridge in Margao.
The incident occurred when a contractor engaged in clearing tree roots near the site used a heavy JCB machine. During the operation, the machine’s bucket struck an underground water pipeline, causing it to rupture.
Water gushed out of the damaged line for a considerable period before officials and personnel from the Public Works Department (PWD) reached the spot to assess the situation, leading to significant wastage.
A senior PWD official told The Goan that the damaged pipeline is a sub-distribution line supplying water to areas located beyond the railway line, including Sirvodem and Khareband.
He assured that repair work was being taken up on priority and that water supply would be restored by the evening.
