Margao youth duped of Rs 2 lakh in fake ship job offer

A youth from Margao was cheated of Rs 2 lakh after being promised a job on a ship by unknown persons.

The victim, a resident of Calconda in Margao, has filed a complaint with the Margao police.

According to the complaint, the accused contacted him and offered to arrange employment on a ship. To gain his trust, they shared fake documents and provided details of the vessels he was supposedly set to board after making the payment.

Believing the offer to be genuine, the victim transferred a total of Rs 2 lakh in several transactions between January 26 and February 12, 2026. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
