A fire brigade led by Officer Ganesh Govekar from the Mapusa Fire Station went to the site and extinguished the fire. Kitchen equipment was severely damaged in the fire.

A couple sustained injuries after a fire broke out in the kitchen of their flat in Kamat Garden Complex in Dattawadi, Mapusa, on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 1.30 pm, when a short circuit in the cooking range caused a fire while lunch was being prepared. Reggie Fernandes (68) and Rita D’Souza (63) were injured in the fire. Neighbours rushed to the flat and moved the injured couple to the Mapusa District Hospital. Reggie Fernandes was later referred to the GMC hospital for further treatment.
