Parish Priest of Wadem, Fr Savio Cabral, will be the main celebrant for the Feast Mass.
The feast is closely linked to the history and memories of the displaced residents of Curdi village, which was submerged following the construction of the Salaulim Dam in 1985.
The chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus remains underwater for most of the year and emerges only when the dam water level recedes during summer. Traditionally held during the last week of May, the feast brings together former residents of Curdi from different parts of Goa for prayer and a reunion of their once-thriving community.
The occasion allows villagers to relive memories of their ancestral village and pray for their displaced community.
The feast could not be held last year due to the early onset of the monsoon, as the chapel remained submerged throughout May.
The submerged village continues to be a spiritual and cultural centre for both Christian and Hindu communities. Last Sunday, thousands of devotees gathered at Curdi for the annual zatrotsav of Lord Someshwar.
The feast celebrations are organised by the original parishioners of Curdi in association with the local church authorities.
