The bye‘election to 14 vacant Village Panchayat wards registered a strong voter turnout of 77.21 percent on Sunday.

According to Goa State Election Commission (GSEC) officials, 4,935 votes were cast from a total electorate of 6,392. Polling was conducted between 8 am and 5 pm in the evening.

Authorities confirmed that the process was carried out peacefully across all wards. No incidents of violence or disruption were reported.

The high turnout reflects active participation by rural voters in filling the vacant seats. Election staff said steady flow of voters were seen through the day, with women and first‘time voters contributing significantly to the numbers.

The bye‘election was necessitated by vacancies in the local bodies, and the results will determine the composition of grassroots governance in some of the affected panchayats.
