Baga beach witnessed late-night chaos on Friday after Calangute Police detained four tourists for allegedly vandalising a beach shack and assaulting a worker while reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

According to the shack owner, the group arrived at the shack around sunset and stayed there for several hours before allegedly demanding that Kannada songs be played. The owner reportedly refused the request, after which the tourists allegedly turned aggressive and threatened to shut down the shack.

The accused allegedly smashed several beer bottles and created a disturbance on the premises. When asked to pay for the damages, the group reportedly refused. “They claimed they were from the Navy and refused to pay for the damages. They even threatened to shut down the shack,” the owner alleged.

No serious injuries were reported, although a shack worker was allegedly assaulted during the incident. The owner later approached Calangute Police and filed a complaint accusing the group of threatening behaviour, assault, and damage to property.

The shack owner has demanded that an FIR be registered against the tourists, claiming that incidents involving unruly tourist behaviour are increasing and require stricter police action.
