Fifteen anganwadis in Bicholim taluka have been upgraded under the ‘Nand Ghar Project’, with facilities introduced to support early childhood education and community services. The centres, located in Mayem, Mulgao, Piligaon, Shirgao, Dhabdhaba and Bicholim, are part of a plan to upgrade 30 anganwadis across Goa. The project is being implemented by Vedanta Sesa Goa-Iron Ore Goa (IOG) under the Anil Agarwal Foundation. The upgraded facilities include smart classrooms, digital learning tools, improved sanitation, safe drinking water and child-friendly infrastructure for children aged three to six. The centres are also used for nutrition programmes, health services and women’s skill development activities. Sharmila Walvalkar, Sarpanch of VP Piligao, said, “The developmental work carried out at Gaonkarwada Anganwadi under Project Vriddhi is highly commendable. The upgraded facilities, educational resources, digitalisation, and improved environment will greatly benefit our children and strengthen the foundation of early childhood care and learning in our village.”
