Town Boys Sanguem down DK Boys Ambaulim

MARGAO: Town Boys Sanguem defeated D.K. Boys Ambaulim 8-6 in a thrilling tie-breaker to advance to the quarterfinals of the 19th Rebello Pandal All Goa Football Tournament at St. Rita Church Ground, Maina, on Monday.

The match was an intense back-and-forth affair. Town Boys Sanguem opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Hanslum, but D.K. Boys Ambaulim quickly equalized through Alex just two minutes later. Visiton then put D.K. Boys ahead 2-1, before Preston restored parity for Town Boys at 2-2.

Flagan’s goal in the next phase gave Town Boys a 3-2 lead, only for Sowell of D.K. Boys to level the score again at 3-3. In injury time, Alvito scored for Town Boys, taking the match to a 4-4 draw and setting the stage for a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Town Boys Sanguem proved the superior side, winning 8-6. Sowell Fernandes was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from football enthusiast Pedro Crasto.
