Ambelim Sports Club edge past Sinquerim Sports Club

Ambelim Sports Club edged past Sinquerim Sports Club 10-9 in a thrilling penalty shootout to reach the quarterfinals of the 18th London Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament 2026, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club and sponsored by the villagers of Goa Velha in the United Kingdom.

Despite being reduced to nine men, Sinquerim Sports Club put up a heroic fight, holding Ambelim to a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time. Sinquerim goalkeeper Ritesh Narvekar was outstanding, making several spectacular saves, including a crucial penalty midway through the second half.

In the ensuing tiebreaker, Ambelim found the net through Velroy Fernandes (2), Rayan Pinto (2), Bleston Simoes (2), Joshua Pinto, Semson Fernandes, Benny Silva, and Rehman Cardozo. Sinquerim’s efforts came from Sahil Parwar (2), Dinesh Parwar (2), Krishna Satardekar, Harichandra Harijan, Sanchit Gaonkar, Sahil Parwar, and Rudresh Naik, with several attempts thwarted by Ambelim’s keeper and one miss off target.

The match also saw Krishna Satardekar cautioned by referee Jan Rodrigues for a reckless tackle.

For his exceptional performance between the posts, Ritesh Narvekar of Sinquerim Sports Club was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from Adolfo Travasso, former player and life member of Goa Velha Sports Club.
