Manu Boys hold nerve to beat Sirvodem

MARGAO: Manu Boys Aquem edged past Sirvodem Boys Navelim 6-5 via a tiebreaker to book their place in the semifinals of the 1st Inter-Ward Football Tournament, organised by Young Boys of Ghantamord in memory of late Franky Carvalho, at Laymati Football Ground, Davorlim on Tuesday.

Both teams displayed attacking football throughout the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw at full time. Pavan gave Sirvodem Boys the lead in the first half, while Clive restored parity for Manu Boys Aquem in the second half, taking the contest into a penalty shootout.

In the decisive tiebreaker, Manu Boys Aquem held their nerve and successfully converted all five spot-kicks to seal a 6-5 victory and progress to the semifinals.

Clifton Colaco of Manu Boys Aquem was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Francisco Dias, Panch of Davorlim.
