Don Bosco College, Panjim registering a convincing 8-wicket win over Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, while GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda secured a 15-run victory against Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona in the Goa University inter-collegiate cricket championship.
In the first match, Don Bosco College, Panjim won the toss and elected to bowl. Government College, Pernem were bundled out for 63 in 14.1 overs, with Manish Rao (23 off 16) and Sarthak Naik (19 off 21) being the main contributors. Sankalp Prabhu starred with the ball, claiming 4 for 11, while Yogesh Kauthankar supported well with 3 for 11.
In reply, Don Bosco chased down the target comfortably, scoring 67 for 2 in just 9.1 overs. Yogesh Kauthankar capped off an impressive all-round performance with a quick 30 off 21 balls, while Aman Kambli added 21. Tanay Harmalkar picked up the lone wicket for Pernem. Yogesh Kauthankar was named Best All-Rounder for his outstanding contribution.
The second match saw GVM’s College, Farmagudi opt to bat first after winning the toss. They posted 116 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Mustheer Shaikh top-scoring with 30 off 21 balls and Mohit Patil contributing 17. Sangarsh Gaonkar was among the wickets with an economical spell.
Chasing 117, Shree Mallikarjun College were bowled out for 101 in 19.3 overs. Piyush Devidas (35 off 30) and Atharv Desai (13 off 22) offered some resistance, but the target proved out of reach. Mustheer Shaikh delivered a match-winning performance with the ball, picking up 4 for 22, while Akshad chipped in with 2 for 20.
Mustheer Shaikh was named Best All-Rounder for his crucial contributions in both departments, helping GVM’s College secure a well-earned victory.
