Ambelim Sports Club defeated Raia Sporting Club 5-4 via a penalty shootout to book their place in the semifinals of the Wilred Leisure Football Tournament at Dysa Ground, Curtorim, on Saturday.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Asfin Pinto gave Ambelim SC the lead, while Raia SC equalised through a penalty converted by Achilles Fernandes.
With no winner emerging in normal time, the contest was decided by a penalty shootout. Ambelim SC held their nerve, converting through Blasco Fernandes, Nessio Pinto, Rayan Pinto and Asfin Pinto. For Raia SC, Achilles Fernandes, Klins Mendes and Movin Gaukar found the net, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.
Asfin Pinto of Ambelim Sports Club was named Player of the Match, with the award presented by Prashant Mapari.
