Powered by a brilliant century from Tanisha Singh, Delhi successfully chased down the target of 199 runs to defeat Goa in the Women’s Under-23 Elite One-Day Trophy. Delhi completed the chase with ease, scoring 201 for 3 in 38.3 overs. The match was played on Wednesday at the Ayush Cricket Academy Ground 1 in Dehradun.
Batting first, Goa posted 198 for 7 in 50 overs. Harshita Yadav scored 47 runs off 45 balls with the help of 10 fours. Captain Tanaya Naik played a patient knock of 44 runs from 93 balls, while wicketkeeper Tanisha Gaikwad contributed 31 runs from 48 balls. Swarali Kasar added 25 runs to steady the innings, while Palak Arondekar remained unbeaten on 29.
Among the bowlers, Madhu picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs. Parunika Sisodia claimed 2 wickets, while Bharti Rawal and Tanisha Singh took 1 wicket.
Chasing 199, the Delhi team had a shaky start with Mansi Sharma dismissed for 4 runs. However, Captain Tanisha Singh and Vanshika Lila steadied the innings with an excellent partnership. Tanisha Singh played a superb unbeaten knock of 100 runs off 89 balls, hitting 13 fours, while Vanshika Lila scored 53 runs from 53 balls. The duo stitched a 106-run partnership for the third wicket to put their team on course for victory. Monica then added 10 runs and remained unbeaten with Tanisha Singh as Delhi reached 201 for 3 in 38.3 overs.
For Goa, Metali Gawandar took 2 wickets, while Pooja Kalel claimed 1 wicket. With this defeat, Goa finished fifth among six teams in the group.E`, registering 1 win and 4 losses in five matches.
