Penha De Franca Warriors & Ravalnath United crowned champions

The first-ever Aamdar Chashak Women’s and Men’s League Cricket Tournament organized in the Porvorim constituency concluded with Penha De Franca Warriors and Ravalnath United Team emerging as champions, at the Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Ground.

In the women’s category, Penha De Franca Warriors clinched the title with an impressive performance, while Salvador de Mundo Team had to settle for the runners-up position. Penha De Franca warriors won the match by 51 runs.

The tournament was played in the 4 overs format. In the women’s final, the winning team batted first and set a target of 105/0 for the opposition. However, the runner-up team failed to chase the target within the stipulated overs.

In the men’s category, Ravalnath United delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship title, while ATB Boys Altorda Team settled for runners-up. The men’s final also witnessed an exciting contest. The tournament was played in the 5 overs format The winning side posted a challenging total and set a target of 107/5 for the opposition. However, the runners-up were unable to complete the chase within the allotted overs. Ravalnath United won by 10 runs.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Porvorim MLA and Goa’s Tourism and IT Minister Rohan Ashok Khaunte as the chief guest. Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Santa Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes, and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai were also present for the prize distribution ceremony. Saligao MLA and GTDC Chairman Kedar Naik, along with Bicholim MLA and Chairman of IT Corporation Chandrakant Shetye, were also present at the event.
