The second round of the Goa Premier Division League (three-day matches), organised by the Goa Cricket Association, got underway on Thursday with Salgaocar Cricket Club and Geno Sports Club taking early control in their respective matches.
At the Bandodkar Ground, Campal, Salgaocar posted a competitive 285 in 74.5 overs against Chowgule Sports Club. Tunish Sawkar led the charge with a fluent 81, while Shaantanu Nevagi (45) and skipper Yash Kasvankar (32) provided solid support. In reply, Chowgule reached 41 for 1 at stumps, trailing by 244 runs, with Sanath Nevagi scoring 23.
At the NAPEX ground in Sankhali, Dempo Cricket Club were bowled out for 262 in 87.3 overs against Margao Cricket Club. Captain Snehal Kauthankar top-scored with a composed 89, while Mohit Yadav (35) and Aaditya Kota (28) chipped in. Anuj Yadav was the standout performer for Margao, claiming six wickets. Margao were yet to begin their first innings at the close of play.
Meanwhile, at the GCA ground in Porvorim, Geno Sports Club piled up 309 in 69.1 overs against Panjim Gymkhana. Nihal Surlakar struck an impressive 90, while skipper Samar Dubhashi contributed 59. Panjim Gymkhana were 47 for 2 at stumps, still trailing by 262 runs, with Bansil Pandya scoring 25.
