Damodar College, GC Khandola register commanding wins

VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola emerged victorious in their respective matches on Day 13 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Men’s Cricket Championship 2025-26.

In the first match, Shree Damodar College outclassed St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa by eight wickets in a one-sided contest. Electing to bat first, Shree Damodar piled up an imposing 216/7 in 20 overs, powered by explosive knocks from Granthik Buyao (60 off 27) and Badal Naik (55 off 25).

In reply, St. Xavier’s College struggled against disciplined bowling and were bowled out for just 57 in 15.1 overs. Saish Shetye top-scored with 12, while Samarth Rane starred with the ball, claiming a brilliant 5 for 7. Granthik Buyao also chipped in with 3 for 7 to complete an excellent all-round performance and was named the best all-rounder, while Rane was adjudged the best bowler.

In the second match, Government College, Khandola registered a comfortable 78-run win over SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora. Batting first, Khandola posted 180/9 in 20 overs, thanks to a solid innings from Rishab Phadte, who scored 86 off 54 balls, with support from Vrushab Gaude (22). Savlo Gaonkar was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 23.

Chasing 181, Dharbandora were bowled out for 102 in 16.5 overs despite efforts from Swapnesh Zore (27) and Sahil Naik (21). Kannayya Gaude (3 for 12) and Omkar Navelkar (2 for 22) led the bowling attack for Khandola.

Rishab Phadte was named the best batter, while Kannayya Gaude earned the best bowler award for his impactful performance.
