Citizens have raised their voices multiple times against the stray dog issue in Goa, particularly in the coastal areas. I had recently gone for a jog on Benaulim beach but was set upon by a pack of strays. Thanks to a gentleman with a stick who shooed away the dogs, I was saved. The beaches are overrun by a whole army of dangerous strays, and the government pays lip service to tackling the menace. Foreign tourists are avoiding Goa solely because of fears of being bitten by these canines; many have already suffered harm. Culling is resorted to even in advanced countries; it is the only viable solution.
