Benaulim beach was once known as the queen of South Goa beaches, but things have gone south now. Garbage is seen piled on the sands, and the control gear of the high mast is exposed to the elements, raising dangers of electrocution. Also, there is a concrete pedestal with exposed electrical cables emanating from it, posing a hazard to beach users using the seating promenade. This might have been the base for a previous light fixture and should be removed lest someone stumble into it and get grievously injured.
