To reinforce the police and the law enforcement authorities in curbing crime, it is very important for sharp and incisive minds, both men and women, to act as vigilantes to protect the State from several criminal activities such as the exploitation of women and children, crimes against women and children, the nipping in the bud of the spread of illegal drug activities which are giving the State a bad name with several banned drugs being freely available, and to bust the network of drug peddlers; to bring to book those involved in fraudulent documentation for the illegal transfer and sale of land, many times involving forgery; to curb accidents in the State, which has seen an alarming rise, especially hit-and-run cases; the reporting of corruption in high places as well as bribery cases involved in the allotment of government jobs; and even the reporting of cases involving the discharge of effluents into our rivers, which are fast becoming polluted in nature. The police and the law enforcement authorities would become very effective if vigilantes volunteered to report criminal activities for necessary action.
