As per reports there is a statewide water shortage, which exposes the government's hollow claims that there is 100% water tap water connectivity, and supply of water for at least 4 hours of the day for every existing domestic household in the state. The 'Har ghar jal' claims have become a mirage. Reportedly , not even the Shiroda village, the constituency of the Water Resources Minister is spared from this suffering. To make matters worse, the government continues granting licences for mega projects, multi-dwelling projects, and luxury gated villa projects, with each unit having a separate swimming pool, without ensuring that that is adequate drinking water supply for citizens, who are struggling to meet their basic need of drinking and domestic water supply. The least that the government should do, under the circumstances, is to put a moratorium on approval for all mega projects, multi dwelling projects , and luxury gated premises, where each dwelling has a separate swimming pool, until the government is able to ensure that every house in the state gets the basic water supply that the government has been assuring people.
