The Public Works Department has begun hot-mix resurfacing of roads between Shantinagar and Mandop, and several internal streets in the Mandop area of the Navelim constituency. The project is being executed at an estimated cost of around Rs four crore.
Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar said the laying of water and underground electrical lines delayed earlier hot-mix work and caused inconvenience to road users. With those utilities now in place, resurfacing has commenced to improve road conditions and restore safe, smooth travel for motorists and residents, he said.
The hot-mix work was inaugurated in the presence of local elected representatives. Present on the occasion were Aquem Baixo Panchayat Sarpanch Milind Salunke, panchayat members Ramdas Usgaonkar, Avinash Sardesai, Pradeep Acharya, Amisha Tilve, Natasha D’Sa and Anton Fernandes. BJP Navelim block secretary Deepak Sawant and Pramod Prabhu attended, along with BJP social media deputy state convener Kapil Sardesai, Saivijay Tandel, Dinesh Mahale and Abhijit Naik.
