Online aggregators send taxis directly to hotels for pick-ups: Sarpanch

Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz told the media that online taxi aggregators have been sending their vehicles directly to hotel premises for guest pick-ups. “This is undermining our long-standing arrangement and is leading to frequent disturbances, create inconvenience for hotel guests, and create disputes and confrontations at hotel premises. Such incidents disturb tourism experience in the region”, he said.

Dixon said since the government is yet to come out the taxi policy, the police should ensure that status quo is maintained.

MLA Venzy Viegas said the issue can be resolved through cooperation. “Our boys ekeing a living on taxi business do not go to the airport and other places to pick up customers. They have left the business to the operators. Same way, we expect these operators not to come to the hotels for a pick  up”, he added.
