Government agencies will make a PowerPoint presentation on the proposed construction of the bandhara at Mirabag, Sanvordem, at a public meeting in Shree Sthal, Sanvordem, at 3 pm on Saturday.
Sources said the presentation is intended to provide clarity on the project and give stakeholders an opportunity to better understand the proposal.
The presentation comes after 31 days of continuous protests led by villagers from Mirabag, Sanvordem and neighbouring areas, who have been voicing their concerns over the project. The protestors have highlighted fears of loss of livelihood, the threat to their agricultural lands, and the possibility of houses being submerged, which they say could affect hundreds of families in the region.
Despite the villagers maintaining a firm stand demanding that the project be scrapped regardless of the government’s justification, government agencies have scheduled the meeting to present details of the proposed project.
The PowerPoint presentation will be made before local representatives, officials and other stakeholders to explain the project in detail and address the concerns raised by residents.
According to sources, the presentation will outline the objectives of the proposed bandhara across the Zuari river, its expected benefits, and the technical aspects of the project. Authorities are also expected to clarify issues related to water storage, irrigation benefits and the possible impact on surrounding areas.
