PANAJI
The Directorate of Settlement and Land Records has further extended its Naksha scheme coverage in Tiswadi wherein the ground survey work will be undertaken in the multiple areas in Panaji city, Taleigao village, including Goa University, starting from Friday, March 20.
In January, the survey was undertaken in Panaji city and surrounding areas such as Bambolim, Cujira, Calapor, Durgawadi, Taleigao, Morambi-O-Grande, Renovadi, Murda and Morambi-O-Pequeno.
Now, the survey will cover areas including Bus Stand, Patto, Ribandar, Miramar and Caranzalem, as well as Taleigao village, including Goa University, Dona Paula Plateau and surrounding localities. Each phase of the survey is expected to last around 10 days.
Authorities have urged all house owners and residents to be present during the survey period and provide necessary information to officials to ensure accurate measurement and recording of properties. Property owners, including those residing outside India, have also been advised to ensure their land rights are properly documented. The department has stated that surveyors may enter premises with permission for internal measurements wherever required.
The survey is being conducted under The Goa (National Geospatial Knowledge-Based) Land Survey of Urban Habitations Rules, 2025. Officials said the department has already completed the survey of government land and has now begun mapping private, public and other categories of land.
Residents will be given an opportunity to raise objections in case discrepancies are found in the survey maps. Details of unclaimed or vacant land parcels will be forwarded to the Collector for further action under the Goa Escheats, Forfeiture and Bona Vacantia Act, 2024.
The Naksha project short for National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations aims to modernise urban land surveys using advanced GIS technology.
