Cries demanding action against all the policemen involved in the assault on a group of youths at the Maina-Curtorim police station are growing with each passing day, with the Goa Police drawing flak for suspending a lone police constable when a group of five police officers and personnel were allegedly involved in the assault.
A group of citizens have also decided to approach Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the Home portfolio, seeking justice for the youngsters brutally assaulted by the men in uniform at the Maina-Curtorim police station.
While the Goa Police has placed a police constable under suspension over the assault, the victim claims that as many as five policemen were involved in the assault.
Citizens took to social media demanding action against the remaining four policemen, including two police sub-inspectors, for their alleged role in the assault. A citizen claimed that the suspension of a lone constable is a clear attempt to shield the remaining four cops.
“The Maina-Curtorim police gave the impression that the police had moved with alacrity by suspending the police constable behind the assault. Now, it is apparent that the youngsters were assaulted by as many as five policemen, including two PSIs,” sources said.
