LoP flags delay in OBC reservation for PG medical seats

PANAJI:  Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao today raised the issue of reservation for OBC students in postgraduate medical seats at Goa Medical College and Goa Dental College, stating that the government has failed to implement the 100-point roster despite earlier assurances.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour in the Assembly, Alemao said the government had given a categorical assurance on August 4, 2025, that a notification regarding reservation for OBC students in PG medical seats in the two institutions would be issued within a week. However, he pointed out that the notification is yet to be issued.

Alemao further said that the rules governing the 100-point roster-based reservation for OBC, ST, and SC categories in the two institutions also remain pending.

“For the last six years, successive assurances have been extended to the community, but the government has consistently turned a Nelson’s eye to the matter,” he said.

He added that with PG NEET medical registrations scheduled to begin in the first week of April 2026, the government must clarify the concrete steps it plans to take to ensure that the notification is issued without further delay.
