Locals press Margao council for action on Dovondem project Dovondem residents met Margao Municipal Chief Officer over concerns regarding a mega housing project in their locality.

MARGAO
Residents of Dovondem, waging a battle against the 294-apartment mega housing project, on Friday called on the Margao Municipal officials to ascertain the action initiated by the Margao civic body against the controversial project.
The delegation, along with social activist Sohail Furtado, called on Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar and demanded to know the action against the real estate development. After being given a patient hearing, the Chief Officer explained that engineers deputed by his office to conduct a site inspection of the project have already submitted a report.
He assured that the Municipality will initiate further action in the matter as per the report.
The delegation pointed out that neither has the real estate development displayed a board at the project site, nor have the tin sheets erected at the site been dismantled till date.
The delegation also interacted with Margao Municipal ward Councillor Lyndon Pereira on the issue.
Residents of Dovondem had hit the streets earlier this month demanding the immediate scrapping of the 294-apartment project in their backyard, saying the project will not only alter the demography of the ward, but will also be a burden on an already overwhelmed infrastructure.
