MARGAO
Residents of Mulem in Paroda village panchayat have lodged a complaint with the authorities seeking action against those involved in excavating a tarred road in the locality.
Complainant Ravindra Gaonkar and former Zilla Panchayat member Jimmy Rodrigues told the media that the road was tarred by the panchayat years ago for the benefit of local residents.
He pointed out that the accused persons had excavated/dug up a portion of the road, leaving local residents without any motorable access. With the road in question dug up by the accused persons, Rodrigues said the road has now been reduced to a pathway.
Complainant Ravindra Gaonkar told the media that the excavation of the road has caused great public nuisance, hardship to villagers at large, and loss to the government, while demanding strict action.
While demanding an inquiry into the incident, the local residents have further demanded that the authorities restore the tarred portion to its original condition with asphalt and tar before the onset of the monsoon rains.
