Goa Petrol Dealers' Assoc assures no fuel shortage, urges public to remain calm

PANAJI: With long queues seen outside fuel stations across Goa yesterday, the Goa Petrol Dealers' Association has assured that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the state and that supplies remain sufficient.

The rush, driven by fears of a possible shortage, led to a sudden spike in demand, with some petrol pumps temporarily running out of stock, further fuelling public anxiety.

Association president Narhar Thakur, however, said that Goa currently has adequate fuel reserves to meet demand for the coming days.

“There is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state of Goa. Some petrol pumps may currently be out of stock due to panic buying by the public. However, there is no need for concern,” he stated.

Thakur explained that the existing stock is enough to last approximately eight days, while a fresh consignment received at the depot yesterday will sustain supply for an additional seven days.

“This cycle of consignment is regular and repeats every 8 to 10 days. In total, we have adequate stock to meet demand for around 14 days for all three companies, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil Corporation,” he added.

He urged the public to maintain normal purchasing behaviour to prevent unnecessary disruption in supply.
