The Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim has widened its digital footprint by adding seven more departments to its online OPD booking system, meant to ease patient access and to cut down queues.

The service, launched in February with five departments, now covers a broader range of specialties.

Patients can now book appointments through the GMC website using mobile OTP or ABHA/DDSSY cards. A one-time registration fee of Rs 100 for Indian nationals and Rs 250 for foreign nationals applies, valid for two years regardless of the number of visits.

Slots are released for the immediate next seven days, with booking for each day closing at 5 pm, on the preceding day. Vacant online slots automatically roll over to offline queues.

Patients receive a confirmation slip after booking and must report 30 minutes before their slot for smooth service.

Officials said the expansion is part of a phase-wise rollout aimed at eventually covering all OPDs. The system, they added, reduces crowding, streamlines patient flow, and aligns with national digital health initiatives.

Offline booking continues in parallel for those unable to access the online system.

The seven new departments onboard, include Endocrinology (Paediatric), Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatric Surgery and Nephrology.
