The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced a major organisational reshuffle in Goa, appointing new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents while restructuring party districts for better coordination ahead of upcoming political engagements.
In an official communication issued by the General Secretary of INC KC Venugopal, four district units have been formalised”Mhadei, North Goa, South Goa and Kushavati”with new presidents named for each.
Mangaldas Naik has been appointed president of the Mhadei DCC, while Shashank Narvakar will head the North Goa DCC. Assiz Jacklis Naronha has been named president of the South Goa DCC, and Rajesh Verenker will lead the Kushavati DCC.
As part of the reorganisation, the Mhadei district will comprise eight constituencies from Pernem, Bicholim and Sattari talukas. The North Goa district will include 12 constituencies from Tiswadi and Bardez.
Similarly, the South Goa district will cover 12 constituencies from Mormugao and Salcete, while the newly carved Kushavati district will include constituencies from Ponda, Canacona, Sanguem and Quepem.
Party sources said the restructuring aims to strengthen grassroots-level coordination and improve electoral preparedness by decentralising organisational responsibilities across the state ahead of 2027 polls.
The move is seen as part of the Congress’s broader strategy to revitalise its cadre base in Goa and streamline district-level leadership.
