AAP Goa forms five frontal wings ahead of 2027 polls

PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has announced the formation of five frontal wings as part of its strategy to strengthen the party organisation from the booth level ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference today, AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik said the party was expanding its grassroots structure across communities and youth groups to build a stronger political network in the State.

“Mamata Maben from Ponda will head the Women’s Wing, Sandeep Pednekar from Saligao the OBC Wing, Rajesh Gaonkar from Canacona the ST Wing, James Fernandes from Curchorem the Minority Wing, and Pujan Malvankar from Anjuna the Youth Wing,” Naik said.

The AAP leader said the expansion was aimed at strengthening the party’s reach at the grassroots level and increasing engagement with communities across Goa.

AAP also used the occasion to push its political roadmap for the 2027 Assembly elections, with leaders claiming the party was focused on positioning itself as a stronger alternative in Goa politics.

ST Wing President Gaonkar said the Scheduled Tribe community in Goa continued to face neglect despite making up a significant section of the population. He alleged that welfare funds meant for the community were not being effectively utilised.

“Our demands have remained pending for years. Funds meant for tribal welfare are lapsing instead of being used for the community,” Gaonkar said.

Youth Wing President Malvankar highlighted issues faced by young people, including unemployment, rising costs, and concerns over the education system. He said educated youth were increasingly frustrated due to job-related irregularities and lack of opportunities.

“The youth want quality education, jobs, and accountability. Educated youth are frustrated because of job scams and lack of opportunities,” Malvankar said.

AAP leaders further said the party is focusing on strengthening its booth-level network and encouraging more young leaders to take active roles in politics as part of its 2027 election preparations.
