A 33-year-old security guard was found dead in an apparent case of suicide at Siolim on Saturday night, police said.
According to Anjuna Police, the incident came to light late on March 28 after the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Siolim, informed them that a man had been brought dead to the casualty ward. The deceased, identified as Pushpendra, a native of Madhya Pradesh residing at Oxel, Siolim, was found hanging inside an old house.
Police said his brother, who had gone to check on him, discovered the body suspended from an iron tube using a bedsheet. With the help of a cousin, family members brought the body down and rushed him to PHC Siolim, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
Police later visited the spot and conducted a panchanama. The body has been preserved at the Goa Medical College (GMC) morgue for medico-legal formalities. Anjuna Police have registered an unnatural death case under Section 194 of the BNS, 2023.
