A late-night dispute over a food bill near Alankar Theatre in Mapusa allegedly turned violent after a hotel owner and his staff reportedly assaulted a father and son, leaving a 29-year-old man seriously injured.
According to Mapusa Police, the incident occurred around 11.30 pm on Wednesday night at a fast food centre near Alankar Theatre.
Police said complainant Rajan Haldankar of Mapusa, along with his son Rahul, had visited the eatery for a meal when an argument allegedly broke out over the food bill. The verbal altercation reportedly escalated into a physical assault, during which the duo was allegedly attacked by the hotel owner and his staff.
Based on the complaint, Mapusa Police registered an offence under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Anand Hazare, Shridhar Hazare and Rohit Roy, all residents of Mapusa, along with other unidentified staff members.
The accused have been charged with allegedly abusing the victims in filthy language and assaulting them with utensils.
In the incident, Rahul sustained serious head injuries, while Rajan Haldankar also suffered bodily injuries. Police said notices have been issued to the accused persons.
Further investigation is in progress.
