Scooter rider booked after collision at Mastimoll

Canacona police have booked a two-wheeler rider from Gaondongrim for ramming his scooter into two motorcycles and injuring three persons at Mastimoll in Canacona.

According to Canacona police, scooter rider Sharmad Faldesai, a resident of Gaondongrim, was riding his scooter in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Chaudi towards Gaondongrim on the old NH-66 road.

The accused rider, upon reaching the T-junction opposite the JMFC Court in Canacona, attempted to overtake and in the process dashed into another motorcycle that was proceeding in the same direction. He then crashed into another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Both motorcycle riders, Santosh Gaonkar, a resident of Netravali in Sanguem, and Abhishek Kumar Sahani, a resident of Nessai, sustained grievous injuries. A pillion rider, Govind Sahani, also from Nessai, suffered simple injuries in the mishap.

Canacona police have booked scooter rider Sharmad Faldesai under Sections 281, 125(a), and 125(b) of the BNS. Further investigation is being conducted by HC Ganu Pagi of Canacona Police Station.
